Week 62: happy 台灣

it's ALBEE! the best RC ever. She was baptized a month ago!

So today I blackmailed sister j$ to send me her weekly email for me to copy and paste into my weekly email because sometimes you just really don't want to do certain things in life. enjoy my comp! I love her so much- here's her email:

"Hey everyone!  Good morning!
It's been another sweltering hot week in Taiwan.  I love the heat.  I am so grateful that I get to spend two summers here.  Tomorrow it's going to be 95 degrees with lots of humidity.  I'm ready to sweat a ton haha.
There were just so many funny things that happened this week.  We had a great P day, where we went to a lighthouse with our bishop and some elders.  At the end of the day, the elders gave us the eggs they owed us.  We had loaned them some eggs for food because they ran out and it was Sunday, so they couldn't go buy any.  So they pull out this egg carton and Elder Shumway goes, "If I remember correctly, you gave us four eggs," and proceeded to take out six eggs from our carton and put them in his shirt...and then bike home with six eggs in his shirt...Elders do weird things.
On Tuesday we were getting home for the night, and talked with our Vietnamese neighbors, who are all really nice.  But then there's their son who's always trying to flirt with us.  I have learned some great anti-flirting skills on my mission.  Sister Armstrong is a great example of that.  We were saying a few English words with them, and their son came up and said, "I-I love you!"  and Sister Armstrong responds, "Wow, your English is really good!"  We decided that it would be a good idea to use that on BYU campus when we get back haha.  There's also another guy who always bothers Sister Armstrong, and has an obvious crush on her.  He came up to us yesterday and was like, "Let's go on a hike tomorrow for P day!"  And she replied, "Sorry I have to go organize my bones."  It's true though, because they don't have chiropractors here, they have zhen gus.  Which means bone organizers haha.  She's gotta go see one because she has had some back pain.  We are so ready to hit BYU when we get back haha.
We also had some great lessons this week!  Albee came up from Tucheng to visit, and she sat in on our lesson with a new investigator, Carrie.  We talked about baptism almost the entire lesson!  It was incredible.  Her kids are super cute too.  They were really well behaved and just drew on the white board quietly while we talked.  I am so excited for their family. :D  Albee is also an incredible member!  She has only been baptized about a month, but she is sooo strong in the gospel.  I love her so much.
On Saturday we had a meeting with the district leaders in Taoyuan.  We wanted to teach them how to work with members, so we brought in a member and did a real life example for them.  It was awesome because she came up with close to 20 names of people she wanted to share the gospel with.  So was so happy that she started crying.  She had wanted to learn how to share the gospel with her friends, but never known how.  It was such a powerful moment.  There are so many amazing members here in Taoyuan!  They all just want to share the gospel with their friends, they just don't know how.  I love working with them to help them accomplish their desires.
That night there was also a super fun stake activity!  All of the wards in Taoyuan had prepared songs to sing in a competition. It was fun to hear everyone perform all night.  Now, I have to let you all know that Taiwanese singing and American singing are completely different.  If there's a song that's in tune with a fermata or two that's considered pretty fancy for a classic Taiwanese church choir.  All the Taiwanese think that American singing is the best thing ever, and now I understand why.  There were some songs that sounded pretty good though.  My favorite was Ju Hua Tai.  It's a beautiful classical Taiwanese song.  Our investigator Daisy came with her two sons and it was so nice to get to know her in a non-teaching-lesson setting.  Then she came to church yesterday, and we are visiting them tonight.  I guess they like us cuz we are seeing them three days in a row.  Love them all haha.
It's been a week of many many miracles.  I love it here!  Love you all!
